'To Gather' - A Place for Interpretation
Design Studies 2A
First semester of second year tasked us with designing an extension onto the St Andrews Sailing Club building, oriented around a ‘community hall’ to accommodate 80 people. We were given three clients to work with, each requesting a proposal to serve a different purpose with varying specificities. I chose to work with Fife council as to me they gave the most control to the designer, asking for a proposal that allowed connection with the elements. Part of the brief also included the University of St Andrews Marine Biology dept.’s interest in engaging the public with the coastline. I combined these two elements to create a public bathhouse - spaces for relaxation.
